This is a contagious viral skin infection that one can get at any age, but it is usually found in kids. It is spread easily through contact with another person who has it as well as clothing, toys and washcloths. When I see this chronically in a child it makes me wonder why the child’s immune system is compromised and if there are other signs of poor immune function. Generally, avoidance is the best approach since it’s so contagious. Some immune support options are sleep, plenty of vegetables with immune supporting nutrients like Vitamin C, Zinc and selenium. Gut healing options are acidophilus/bifidophilus and fermented foods like sauerkraut and cod liver oil.
