Lipomas are benign, fatty tumors that appear beneath the skin. Some of the causes of lipoma growths are: metabolic syndrome, genetics, injury, age, liver disease/fatty lliver and hormone imbalance. I would focus on metabolism, initially. In most cases, a person that is developing lipomas has indications of insulin resistance and/or metabolic syndrome. Genetics seem to play a role, but it is unclear if it’s impacted more by nurture or nature. Hormones like estrogen and insulin are growth factors in other tumor formation. In functional integrative medicine, the development of lipomas is symptomatic of one or more of these issues.
